UFCU Celebrates Del Valle Day

| Community Impact

On Saturday, August 23, UFCU proudly served as the presenting sponsor of Del Valle Day, a vibrant celebration of the East Austin community held at Circuit of the Americas. More than 700 families came together to enjoy go-kart racing, mini golf, games, raffles, and a community resource fair designed to uplift and connect local residents.

As part of its ongoing commitment to financial inclusion, UFCU brought its innovative Mobile Branch to the event, offering on-the-spot financial consultations and full-service banking. Attendees were able to open accounts, review credit, and access essential services, all from a branch on wheels.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate with Del Valle and offer the community important financial information and the services they need,” said AVP of Retail & Lending Experience Janice Matthews.

Del Valle Day also marked one year of UFCU’s Mobile Branch serving the Del Valle community, a region often described as a banking, food, and healthcare desert due to limited access to essential services. Since August 2024, UFCU has partnered with Equidad, a local nonprofit, to bring monthly Mobile Branch visits to strategic locations like Del Valle High School and the Creedmoor Community Center. These visits provide residents with access to financial tools and education, helping bridge critical gaps.

“This is a community that needs our support,” said CEO and President Michael Crowl. “UFCU serves thousands of Members, and our Mobile Branch helps us meet them where they are, offering personalized service and financial empowerment.”

Looking ahead, UFCU will sponsor the launch event for Del Valle’s first-ever grocery co-op, a grassroots initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity. As new housing developments continue to rise in the hills of Del Valle, UFCU remains committed to monthly visits and plans to expand its offerings with financial education workshops and seminars tailored to the community’s evolving needs.

“UFCU products and services are a great fit for Del Valle families,” Crowl continued. “The Mobile Branch and our compassionate staff are honored to serve and support this growing community.”
